A Message to Our Bowmont Medical Clinic Patients

Our office wanted to provide an update on our knowledge of the COVID vaccination roll-out, as we have received a number of calls to inquire.

The Government of Alberta has not yet given our clinic any direction as to when or if we will be able to give the COVID vaccine. We do remain hopeful that we will be able to administer in our office but at this time we will NOT be administering the vaccine here.

If this occurs, we will be contacting our patients and our most vulnerable patients will be the first candidates to receive the vaccine. We are able to generate this list from our records so there will be no need to call the office until we have been given instruction by the government that we will be able to administer here.

We will do our best to keep our patients informed should we hear any news of the COVID vaccine roll out, and we are always happy to book you in with either physician should you have any questions or concerns.

Below is a link providing more information to keep you informed about the vaccine roll out, how the Alberta government will be booking, and it can answer any questions you may have as well. Please do not call our office as we can not book these appointments for you.

Vaccinating Those 75 Years of Age & Older

Starting February 24, 2021, Albertans who were born in 1946 or earlier are able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as part of Phase 1B of the provincial vaccination program. The vaccine will be provided to seniors 75 year of age and older in two doses. These doses will be approximately 5 – 6 weeks apart. This aligns with the approach recommended by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI).

How to Book

Starting today, February 24, Albertans who are over 75 can use the AHS online booking tool to schedule an appointment to be vaccinated with options for a time, date, as well as a window to book the second dose within the recommended 32 to 42 days.

Those over 75 may also call Health Link (811) 8 am to 4 pm to book an appointment through a Health Link nurse. Appointments can be booked for both the first and second doses.

Seniors must return to the same clinic to receive their second dose of the vaccine to ensure appropriate timing between doses and to help manage vaccine supply.

Family members can book on behalf of those over 75 who are eligible to receive the vaccine. They will need the Alberta Health Care number and date of birth of the person being vaccinated and can make the appointment from a desktop computer or hand held device.

Thank you and be safe!
